Our Principal

John D. Russell, JD has fifteen years spent cultivating relationships across the valuation profession. As a longtime part of the senior leadership team with the American Society of Appraisers (ASA), John has been at the forefront of the valuation profession. A brief sample of John's work speaks to his unique position within the valuation profession:

• Working with stakeholders John championed passage of Title XIV of the Dodd-Frank Act of 2010, a major overhaul of federal appraisal legislation.

• John served as project manager for the merger between ASA and the National Association of Independent Fee Appraisers (NAIFA); the most recent merger in the valuation professional organization (VPO) space.

• John served as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Appraisal Foundation, the congressionally authorized promulgator of appraisal standards and appraiser minimum qualification criteria. John also served as ASA's representative to the Appraisal Foundation Advisory Council (TAFAC), and now serves on behalf of MBREA.

• John worked with business interests and employee-owned companies to defend against harmful valuation-related regulations such as "appraiser-as-fiduciary" and family attribution.

• John has spoken at numerous conferences and events on topics affecting all corners of the valuation profession.

John has a Juris Doctor from Syracuse University College of Law, and a Bachelors in Broadcasting and Mass Communication from SUNY Oswego.
